1940s era Modernist Swedish 18k Gold hinged bangle - maker Stigbert under Heribert Engelbert
This gorgeous vintage Swedish 18k gold bangle is oval shaped with a rectangular hollow cross section. Interior of this oval bracelet has an interior circumference approximately 6.8 inches (17.5cm) and opens with a well working hinge. She weighs a nice 12.6g of buttery 18k yellow gold and has a warm vintage patina. I just had her professionally polished for you.
Bangle has a tongue clasp with secure double safety eights. Swedish hallmarks for maker (two marks actually - see note below), gold purity, and location. Very good vintage condition.
Atelier Stigbert is one of the best known producers of Swedish Modernist and midcentury jewelry. Stigbert was founded by the goldsmith Stig Engelbert in the early 1940s. The Atelier was organized as a modern branch within the older company, Heribert Engelbert, and therefore the early pieces have two sets of maker's marks, that of the Atelier, and that of the company.
This sublime Modernist 18k gold bangle is chic and clean and plays beautifully with others.
